Carbon Offset

We are all aware of the problems facing us with climate change.

Many of us are doing things individually but as a business we have decided we must also take action.

Working out our carbon emissions is not easy- we ship from various distributors who get the goods from manufacturers-often the Far East.

We are in the process of signing up with Co2 Analytics who look at our purchase ledger and make an estimate of our carbon emissions. We will then offset this through Climate Care and Treedom

We have added an optional extra £1 carriage charge for customers who would like to support this . Every £1 will go to buying Trees through Treedom.

CO2 Analytics is the software we are using to analyse our Xero accounts. By looking at our Purchases it calculates our emissions. Until I had found this I had wanted to do something but could not find an easy way to calculate our emissions. They follow the WRI Greenhouse Gas Protocol which is the most used methodology for carbon accounting.

Climate care is the business I have used to offset Air travel. It will be one of the 2 companies we will use to offset our carbon emissions. The money they get from people offsetting Carbon through them is used in a variety of Climate Care projects.

Every tree on Treedom is geo-localized and photographed and has its online page, it can be kept or virtually gifted to others. Thanks to these features, Treedom's tree engages people and at the same time it represents a great communication and marketing tool for companies.

That is what we are planning to do. We will spend a £1 for every order we ship from the online store to buy trees through Treedom. If customers when they order select to pay £1 then that would be great - we are a small business.

We need to take part in trying to help off set the climate change issue and I am sure that if we all did what we can, the collectively we can make a difference. I believe actions are better than words- I have been aware about this issue for years- we are now trying to do our small bit.
